Being an older device, the Zenfone 4 comes with v4.3 (Jelly Bean) and now it runs on v4.4.2 (KitKat), while the Moto E comes with v4.4.2 (KitKat) and received the 4.4.3 (KitKat) update.
Cameras
Don’t have high expectations from these phones’ cameras as both of them support a resolution of 5MP. Thankfully, the Zenfone 4 comes with autofocus and a few features such as face detection and panorama. If you use to make video calls, you’ll find the VGA front camera very useful. The Moto E lacks a secondary camera.
Batteries
When the Li-Po 1200/1600mAh battery on the Zenfon will start to let you down, you’ll be able to replace it. This isn’t possible with the Moto E, because its battery of 1980 mAh is non-removable.

The price of the Zenfone 4 on Amazon is 126 dollars, being 6 dollars more expensive than the Moto E.
