The Google Nexus 7 has proved its mettle in the tablet arena. However, the price tag at which it was introduced into the market makes it a red-hot seller until date. In comparison, Apple had equipped its iPad Mini 2 handset with the Retina Display, to keep up with the changing times. However, the usual set of hardware and software features was a treat to the potential user.
The hard part is to choose between the two tablets. Both the tablets saw an increase in the price tag. However, the iPad Mini 2 equipped with Retina Display comes at an exorbitant price. Nevertheless, if you were looking for compact tablets, you would come across the Nexus 7 and the iPad Mini 2.

Camera Comparison
Both the handsets could launch camera apps straight from the lock screens. However, both cameras do not come equipped with high-end interfaces and lack manual controls. The iPad Mini 2 comes equipped with HDR and square shot mode, whereas, the Nexus 7 comes with Photosphere and Panoramic modes. In addition, the Nexus 7 comes with exposure and white balance in the setting menu.
Both come fitted with 5MP cameras with auto-focus feature. Both handsets incorporate f2.4 aperture lens along with 1080p video capturing ability. Regardless, the results differ between both the handsets, with respect to image quality. Both the handsets offer a good amount of details in the photographs. The snaps taken by the Nexus 7 appear with a tad over-sharpened tone, as compared to the saturated tone of the iPad Mini 2 handset.
The Nexus 7 appears to be better equipped to take macro shots.
Image Quality: under low-light conditions, both handsets offer low quality images, equipped with plenty of noises and softened tone of the Nexus 7 images. However, the Nexus 7 offers brighter images due to longer exposure, which is susceptible to more noise and blurring. It also offers cooler color reproduction, as compared to the warmer colors offered by the iPad Mini 2 handset.
Camera Speed
The iPad Mini 2 equipped with Retina Display is better equipped to capture 1080p videos. The quality is crispier with clear audio recording. Under low light conditions, the iPad offers brighter and more detailed video, although with more noise. However, it is better than dark and soft visuals offered by the Nexus 7 handset.
