Samsung Galaxy Mega VS Vibe Z2

The Galaxy Mega was released in 2013 and the Vibe Z2 Pro is fresh on the market. As expected, the second phablet is much more powerful and a lot more expensive, so if you really want to be close to perfection, you’d better spend extra dollars on the Lenovo device.

Designs, displays and sizes

Fir the Galaxy Mega 6.3, you’ll need a voluminous pocket, because it’s not an ordinary phablet, easy to handle. Its display, a SC-LCD, is sized at 6.3inches and supports a nice resolution of 720x1280pixels with 233ppi. On the outside, the Galaxy Mega comes with a plastic removable rear panel, with its MicroUSB port located on the button, the headset jack is on the top, while the volume rocker sits on the left, and the power button is on the right. Below the screen is the home screen, with capacitive buttons on both sides. The sizes of this giant are 167.6x88x8mm and it weights approximately 200grams.

The Vibe Z2 Pro is thinner and comes with a brushed metal unibody design. Its dimensions are 156×81.3×7.7mm and it’s 20grams lighter than the Samsung phablet. Being smaller, it means that the display is also smaller, of 6inches. Lenovo used an IPS LCD display which is capable of supporting a higher resolution of 1440x2560pixels with 490ppi. Also, the screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Hardware and OS

The Vibe Z2 Pro was freshly released, which means that it comes with a lot more advanced hardware components, such as a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset that supports a Krait 400 processor with four cores, clocked at 2.5GHz, and it uses Adreno 330 as GPU.

The Samsung phablet isn’t sluggish, considering that it’s powered by a dual core 1.7GHz Krait 300 processor, backed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset and coupled with an Adreno 305 GPU.

When it comes to internal memories, the Galaxy Grand is more disadvantaged, because its two variants of 8 and 16GB are very small, compared to Vibe Z2 Pro’s 32GB of internal storage, but at least the Samsung phablet supports a microSD card slot for expansion up to 64GB. As for the RAM capacity, the Galaxy Mega has 1.5GB, while the Lenovo device has double the capacity.

The Galaxy Mega comes with Android v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) and you’re allowed to upgrade it to v4.4.2 (KitKat), while the Vibe Z2 Pro is already loaded with this version.
