After announcing the OS and Steam Machine Steam , Valve went
on a series of product announcements by announcing their family entertainment a
game controller known as the Steam Controller . Controller of the Valve games
have a form that is quite different from most gaming controller available today
. Valve prefers to use the trackpad to replace 2 pieces analog stick and d -
pad is in a standard game controller as well as introducing a new layout that
really makes it different.
Both the trackpad on Steam Controller positioned on the left
and right of the controller , the usual place filled by the analog stick , d -
pad and action button on a standard controller . Both the trackpad flanking a
touch screen located in the center of the controller . To action button , Valve
still provide 4 pieces of the action buttons ( A , B , X , and Y ) and position
them around the existing track pad .
According to Valve , this controller will be compatible with
existing games on Steam , though the game does not support the use of the game
controller . This is possible because Valve has provided " Legacy Mode
" for the controller so the game will recognize it as a regular keyboard
and mouse devices .
The game controller will be used on Steam that is in a
variety of operating systems , including Windows , Linux , Mac , and the OS
itself , and of course Steam Steam Machine .
